Bat surveys could be required for certain developments to assist with planning applications to obtain planning permission for a development. Under normal circumstances, the local planning authorities will let you know whether or not a bat survey is required A survey will help to determine whether there are bats located in a structure or tree within close proximity to the site.

Ecoscanners bat surveys detect the presence or likely absence of bats throughout the development area so that development plans can go ahead. If the survey finds that there are bats on, or within close proximity to a project site, mitigation measures and compensation must be undertaken before any development work is permitted to proceed.

What To Expect On Our Bat Surveys

Our initial visual bat survey consists of our Professional bat ecologist searching all areas of the built structure with the aid of ladders, binoculars and torches for signs of past or present use by bats. Whilst on site he/she will also assess whether or not the site has potential to support bats.

After this initial survey, a formal report will be written to support your planning application, with further recommendations provided if necessary. We have a simple pricing system dependent on the scale of the proposed development and can quickly provide a quote.
